Full Spectrum Features is a vertically-integrated organization, meaning that we develop, produce, and distribute content. This allows us to offer internships in multiple areas of focus, including creative development, producing, graphic design, creative distribution, and data analytics. These are unpaid internships, but current students can earn academic credit through select local Chicago universities and colleges.

Important: FSF internships are best viewed as office internships as we are always developing, producing, and distributing but are not always in production; opportunities to work on set are limited.

Creative Development interns manage the intake of new submissions, coordinate coverage within the office, read scripts & write coverage, and, where appropriate, give creative notes and collaborate on the development of FSF projects. Other tasks, administrative and/or related to other areas of the organization, may also be assigned.

Creative Distribution (Marketing) interns assist in distribution activities including audience development, public engagement and non-theatrical distribution. Interns have the opportunity to develop vitals skills, relevant for jobs in independent film distribution, arts administration, and non-profit management.

Data Analytics interns assist FSF’s distribution team develop & reach audiences while expanding its reach into the educational market. Activities include target market and competitive analysis research, project coordination, and proposal writing, promotional marketing and data tracking.

Education & Outreach interns work in partnership with Interaction Initiative and assist in developing an educational program for a film produced by Full Spectrum Features. The intern will also gain experience on the outreach side of identifying potential partners for new and existing programs. As a part of fulfilling our mission, interns will also have the opportunity to deepen their own understanding and commitment to racial justice.

Graphic Design interns help with in-house design projects. They work on the graphic design for digital and print projects and special visual communications projects. Other work may include motion graphics to create dynamic slideshows for events, editing short-form videos for promotion, or assisting in website management. Experience with social media marketing a plus.

Producing interns will have the opportunity to learn about above-the-line indie film producing and non-profit management. They will gain hands-on experience in our thriving office, working closely with the Full Spectrum staff to support the development, production, and distribution of vital independent media. Our interns are a crucial part of our organization, they are trusted to independently carry out long-term projects and are never given busywork. Specific work assignments will be catered towards the intern's interests and skills when possible.
