JOANNA LAKATOS

Joanna Lakatos (she/her) is a nonprofit leader with nearly 20 years of experience in media, storytelling, organizational management and development. She brings specialized expertise and a passion for collaborating with organizations building capacity through moments of growth and change, with an emphasis on comprehensive development strategy, institutional and major giving, volunteer engagement and strategic planning. Joanna has also spent over a decade immersed in filmmaking and media for social change, both as an independent producer of award-winning documentaries and as a core team member at storytelling organizations. She recently served as the Director of Development at Kartemquin Films, where she shepherded the organization through five years of unprecedented growth, more than doubling fundraising returns and building a comprehensive development program from the ground up. Prior, Joanna worked as a consultant with local companies including The Alford Group and Lipman Hearne. She graduated with honors from the University of Chicago and received a Summer Links Fellowship in recognition of her commitment to community engagement and social change. She lives in Chicago with her partner, Marshall, and loves to talk about horror movies, documentaries, cheese, weekend getaways to the woods and her spicy tortoiseshell cat, Emma Goldman.
