Talia Koylass

ASSISTANT PRODUCER // PRODUCTION MANAGER

Talia Koylass (she/her) is a Chicago-based director/producer. She’s the founder of Motion/Pictures Dance Project, a production company dedicated to the creation of dance-based content. She has shown films at festivals around the country including In/Motion: Chicago’s International Dance Film Festival, Chicago South Side Film Festival, and Dance on Camera Festival in New York and has received various grants, commissions and residencies to support her work such as the Links Hall CoMISSION Residency and Side Street Studio Arts Illinois Artist Commission. In 2020, Talia was commissioned to work with Rena Butler, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and Loyola University Chicago to create media pieces that would directly engage dancers and choreographers with their communities amidst a global pandemic. Her company continues to produce video content for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Talia has worked with companies such as Cineflix Productions, Food Network, Big Beach, New City, Vam Studio, Dance Films Association and Full Spectrum Features; her work has been featured via Afropunk and the Harris Theater. Notably, Talia directed a dance film projection for 2022 Art on theMART commissioned artist, Jasmin Taylor. Talia received her BFA in dance from Fordham University/The Ailey School, is currently pursuing her MFA in Film at Howard University and has taught media production at the high school and undergraduate level. Talia strives to create work in which the two languages of dance and film integrate to tell compelling narratives, further communicate the visions of her and her collaborators, and use authentic storytelling to create community, conversation, and change.
